Conservation work party at Abbeyleix Bog – Saturday, 1st November 2014

Meet at Abbeyleix Manor Hotel at 10.30am – please join us!

After the success of our first Conservation Work Group in Abbeyleix Bog, we will be continuing to clear the stunted pine trees from the bog to help restore the peatland habitat to its original condition. This is essential work and, where possible, we aim to conserve any saplings that can be lifted so that they can be planted elsewhere.

We are happy to be working again with Conservation Volunteers Ireland and the Abbeyleix Bog Project and would be delighted to have any other person or organisation join us on the day.

Please feel free to join us even if you can't stay for the entire duration or feel unsure about carrying out the tasks – the event will be fun and easy going, with each person working at their own pace.

Please bring a packed lunch, your own mug (we will supply the tea & coffee) and suitable clothing - wet gear, warm clothes and wellies are recommended!  If you would like to participate or to find out more, please email Brian at
