The Irish Wildlife Trust, in conjunction with Dublin City Council, invites you to participate in our environmental education programme: NATURE IN THE PARK. This opportunity is available to one class in the school from 3rd to 5th class.
Aim of the Project Our aim with the ‘NATURE IN THE PARK’ programme is to highlight the value and promote the use and care of parks in your local area through an environmental education programme taking place both in the school and on-site in the park itself. We hope to heighten awareness of the value of green space and wildlife within the Dublin City Council area. How will it be implemented in the schools? The nature education project takes place throughout the school year, whereby the class involved get to visit the parks on a seasonal basis, looking at the changes to the park throughout the year. Also added to the programme is a practical element whereby the class get to make a windowbox/birdfeeder that the children can then take home and get their guardians/parents interested in wildlife. This Programme is available to the schools on a two year cycle whereby at the end of their second year, the school is left with a handbook that is self guided and links to the habitat types of their local parks. The programme is available from 3rd class to 5th class.
Nature the Parks is funded by Dublin City Council
